CrossFit Jr. Athletes workouts consist of constantly varied, functional movements that deliver a fitness that is broad, inclusive and general and scalable for any participant at any level. The functional movements involve exercises that are fundamental to all things that kids need to do when they play-pull, push, run, throw, climb, lift and jump. Our Junior Athletes class will mainly focus on fun and fitness; we will be using a lot of body weight exercises, endurance work, kettlebells, dumbbells, and wall balls.
When fitness is defined as broad, inclusive and general it means that participants will become well-rounded athletes who will be better at any and every sport that they play. CrossFit Jr. Athletes will not specialize and does not coach them to be good at just one thing, but rather builds them both physically and mentally to adapt, adjust and work at high capacity across many sports. Our workouts will increase physical competence in 10 fitness domains: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy.
Class atmosphere will be high-energy, fun, engaging and interactive. At CrossFit Sioux Falls, our CrossFit Jr. Athletes program uses a combination of skill practice, workouts and games to build strength and conditioning in children. We will also be focusing this program on self esteem and building not only strong bodied kids but strong minded kids as well. We will talk about nutrition and how important it is to eat right and workout. The structure of the class will be similar to our regular CrossFit classes; which comprise a warm-up that we will do as a group, then go into the skill work focusing on all around general technique and skill for kids, and lastly we will have our workout of the day combining strength and conditioning in a challenging yet fun environment.
This year, All registration will be done on our website at www.crossfitsiouxfalls.com such that we can focus on the best program and the kids during our time in the gym. You will be able to register your child based on the grade they will be attending in the upcoming school year. In addition to registration, you will be able to pay and sign your child’s waiver all before the session starts. This program is open to kids grades K through 7th. [NOTE: If your child is entering 8th grade or older and you are interested in getting them started on a program, please check out our CrossFit Teens program.]
Class Information: Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:45am – 10:45am
1st Session Starts – Tuesday June 3rd – June 30th
2nd Session Starts – Tuesday July 8th – August 9th
Session 1: 8 Sessions $75 + Tax
Session 2: 10 Sessions $90 + Tax
